La o margine de drum

Am zărit un falnic prun,

Care avea prune coapte

Bune de mâncat chiar toate;

Ca să-mi fac pofta nințel

Scutur prunul ușurel...

Mă uit în el dar nu văd prune;

Nici pe jos nu se văd prune!

O enigmă apare acum:

Câte prune-au fost în prun?

A. Enigma

At the side of the road

I saw a tall plum tree,

Which had ripe plums

Good to eat all of them;

To satisfy my craving

I shake the plum lightly ...

I look in it but I don't see plums;

I can't even see the plums on the ground!

An enigma now appears:

How many plums were in the plum?
