Ionel este elev în clasa a X-a la un liceu cu profil real. Și el și fratele lui mai mare Mircea sunt pasionați de matematică și foarte buni la această materie, dar nu au deloc talent la arte. În timpul liber, Ionel face sport. Începând din clasa a XI-a face parte și din echipa de fotbal a liceului, pentru care a înscris multe goluri. Dar a început să practice sport de performanță cu câtiva ani în urmă, când s-a apucat de tenis. La editia de anul trecut a olimpiadei de matematică, Ionel s-a clasat pe locul 2, cu nota 9.25 și numai 0.5 puncte înaintea primului clasat. Tot anul trecut, învățătoarea i-a acordat nota 10 lui Ionel la ora de desen și a expus câteva tablouri de-ale sale la o expoziție cu intrare liberă la Muzeul de Artă. Părinții lui Ionel sunt foarte mândri de unicul lor fiu. Expoziția a fost un succes, au participat foarte multe persoane. Banii câștigați din vânzarea biletelor s-au folosit pentru renovarea salii de spectacol a Teatrului Național, în foaierul căruia au fost expuse tablourile în cadrul expoziției. Printre participanți a fost și Florin, prietenul cel mai bun al lui Ionel și coleg de clasă cu fratele său Mircea. Cei doi se cunosc de la antrenamentele de tenis, pe care le-a început Ionel când renunțat să facă parte din echipa de fotbal a liceului. Florin este mai mic cu 3 ani decât Ionel, dar diferența de vârstă nu se simte pentru că au subiecte de interes comun. În vară merg mereu împreună în cantonamentele organizate de liceul sportiv unde învață.

Ionel is a 10th grade student at a science highschool. He and his older brother Mircea are both passionate about mathematics and very good at this subject, but they have no talent for art. In his free time, Ionel does sports. Starting from the 11th grade, he is also part of the highschool football team, for which he scored many goals. But he started practicing sports a few years ago, when he begin playing tennis. At last year's edition of the mathematics olympiad, Ionel ranked 2nd, with a grade of 9.25 and only 0.5 points before the first ranked. Also last year, the middle school teacher gave Ionel the grade 10 in the drawing class and exhibited some of his paintings at an exhibition with free admission to the Art Museum. Ionel's parents are very proud of their only son. The exhibition was a success, many people participated. The money earned from ticket sales was used to renovate the performance hall of the National Theater, in the foyer of which the paintings were exhibited. Among the participants was Florin, Ionel's best friend and classmate with his brother Mircea. The two have known each other since tennis training, which Ionel started at the time he gave up being part of the highschool football team. Florin is 3 years younger than Ionel, but the age difference is not felt because they have topics of common interest. In the summer they always go together to the camps organized by the sports highschool where they study.
